Weekly update 1

I've decided to write a blog post every week to keep everyone up to date about the status of the production of the KNTRL9. Sometimes it will be elaborately but most of the times it will probably just be a small update to keep everyone informed.

As you know the first batch sold out within a few days which was way faster than I'd ever hoped for. On top of that, I was able to order more chips!

Where did these chips come from all of a sudden?

When I was talking to someone about the global chip shortage, I visited the website of the chip manufacturer to proof my point that the lead time for chips is almost more than a year.

To my surprise however, the website showed that new chips could be ordered (which I did) and they were delivered to me this week. This means that I was able to sell another batch of controllers. I limited the batch size to 50 again because I still work on this project alone. After all the controllers are shipped, I will start looking into how I can upscale.

There currently are still 22 controllers left so I expect to be sold out before the end of the month.

Ordering process

Apart from the chips, I ordered all the other parts that are needed for the first and second batch. This includes the top and bottom panels, rotary knobs and all screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc.

This week I have an appointment with a carpenter to start on the woodwork together. Next to that, I am working on designing the package.

Planning

Up to now, I'm still in sync with the planning. Expected delivery is still April 2022 (between 4th and 21st of April) for the first batch. Shipping to those who ordered the second batch (if you ordered after 9th of February) will be after that.
